APC primaries : AGF hails Oyetola, commends APC on direct system

A socio-political organization, Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation (AGF) Osun state chapter has congratulated the Chief of Staff to Governor of Osun, Mr Gboyega Oyetola over his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer for the governorship election slated for September 22. 


The group,  in a statement issued and signed  by the duo of the  Coordinator, Comrade Tijani Sikiru and Secretary, Comrade Yahaya Adeniji, a copy which was  made available to newsmen in Osogbo , also commended the APC party leadership on the adopted direct primary system. 

 It added that the system remains as objective means of choosing credible and most popular candidate that is seamlessly sellable. 

According to the group, "  Oyetola's emergence as the party flag bearer would guarantee continuity of Governor Rauf Aregbesola's good work in Osun. 

"He has worked with for over seven and half years and he knows and understands what the good governance is all about and how to go about achieving it. 

"We  want to commend the decision of the National Working Committee of our party in settling for the direct election mode for Thursday's primary. Direct primary helps in throwing up a credible, suitable and a popular choice. 


"Osun has set a pace which others will follow . The direct system will reduce the fear of delegates inducement by aspirants and also give people opportunity to involve in the selection of their candidate.



"Obviously, indirect primary negates the democratic credentials upon which a progressive party like ours thrives. 



"We therefore appeal to all aspirants that contested against Oyetola for the party ticket to maintain the spirit of sportsmanship in them and  work with the party's candidate in as much as they all belong to the same progressive camp".


Urging members of party to start working assiduously by canvassing vote and mobilising people for Oyetola and APC, the group also charged the party flag bearer to work together with his co-contenders so as to build the party and bring it back into a big and one strong united family. 

It expressed  optimism that the newly elected APC candidate would emerge victorious in the coming gubernatorial election comes September 22.

Oyetola  is a technocrat , man of candour who possess highly intellectual acumen. We believe so much in his administrative capability. His victory could only be described as a well deserved one.

The group however enjoined those that are yet to collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to do so as to be able to exercise their civic responsibility come September 22, 2018

Lawal Approves 28 Games For Osun Sports' Festival

Osun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Yemi Lawal has approved 28 different sports for the upcoming sports fiesta that will cut across the nooks and crannies of the state. This is contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Sports' Council, Mrs Funmilayo Moradeyo on Wednesday. The approved sports are; football, volleyball, basketball, handball; hockey, cricket, table tennis, chess, ayo olopon, draft, scrabble, boxing; Taekwondo and kick- boxing. Others are; Para- powerlifting, konfu, karate, judo, wrestling, swimming, athletics, badminton, squash, cycling tennis and weightlifting. The commissioner in a meeting with the Sports Council staff, coaches and local government sports coordinators, observed that "it is high time we started to develop sports from the grassroot, put the age limit of the athlete that  can feature in the sports fiesta to be 15- 29. OAU Reunion: Accounting Dept. 2001 Set Embarks On Massive Renovation, Visits Ooni (Photos)

As part of the reunion programme of the 2001 set of Management & Accounting Department of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, the association has renovated several classrooms and other facilities in the Faculty of Administration. The association, before commissioning of the renovated facilities on Saturday, paid royal homage to the palace of Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
