Eid: Sustain lesson of obedience,  pray for peaceful polls - Osun NUJ admonishes Nigerians

 By Owolabi Labode

Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun state council, has urged  Nigerians, irrespective of religious affiliations  to sustain the lesson of obedience to divine dictates  which the Eid celebration teaches, and pray for hitch-free polls in Osun,  and Nigeria at large.

This was contained in a Sallah message signed by the Secretary of the union, Boladale Bamigbola, the copy made available to newsmen in Osogbo,  the Osun State capital.

Bamigbola emphasised the divine obligation for all humans,  which according to him  was to seek and follow dictates of Allah always in every situation,  as done by Prophet Ibrahim.

He therefore  called on members to use the period of Eid celebration to pray for a rancour -free governorship election in the state and during the general elections, for the safety of  newsmen that would be on duty during campaigns and on election day.

"As we  celebrate this important season of sober spiritual reflection, we must do so without losing the essence of the celebration, which is a conscious reminder of the need to obey divine dictates of Almighty Allah, with total submission to His will.

"That lesson must not elude us. It is also a period of opportunity for newsmen to pray for peace and God's protection in Osun, and 2019 general elections", the statement concluded.
