As the third edition of the Osun Youth Ambassador's Awards holds today, Sunday, August 26, 2018, 22 personalities will be honoured with awards of excellent services to humanity, including two prominent Osun monarchs, the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi (TELU 1) and His Royal Majesty, The Olowu of Kuta, Oba AbdulHammed Adekunle Makama (Tegbosun 3).
This was contained in a statement signed by the President of Youth Reformer Initiative (YRI), Aminat Alake Ajibola, the copy which was made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Sunday.
According to the statement, the event was billed to hold at Atlantis Civic Centre, Osogbo, Osun state, while the Guest speaker is Dr. Dayo Sobowale (mNSE, R.Eng), as government functionaries, political office holders, community and Religious leaders, including media practitioners are expected to grace the event.
Ajibola said" This programme is the third edition and it has always been specially and specifically organized to acknowledge the positive contributions of great, illustrious and industrious sons and daughters of Osun state who have distinguished themselves in their chosen field of endeavours.
"They must have impacted and contributed to their community and fatherland, and that is why they would be celebrated on Sunday, August 26, 2018 as a way of inspiring and encouraging other youths, enhancing their capacity to do more in days and years to come.
"Our desire to contribute meaningfully to the sociopolitical space in orientation, culture, education and economic frontiers is intrinsically paramount.
"The misplacement of priorities in our immediate society is noticeable everywhere; in schools, religious centres, homes, offices which has overstretched the boarders of true reflection of youths.
"Level of creativity continues to dwindle, productivity abysmally low, urge for instant wealth without labour, drug abuse and other negative social vices call
for concern by all major stakeholders of the Osun and Nigeria project.
"Despite the above picture, we still have forward looking Nigerians who are forthright in their dealings and committed to a genuine cause which will advance the human race positively. They are our Ambassadors, they are our pride, they are the prestigious recipients of the OYAA 2018.
"We subjected ourselves to first, discipline and courageous mentality to present the best, one major reason why we have carefully shortlisted 17 sons and daughters of our state whose entries among the several hundreds received are standing tall. We are most delighted to have worked with a great team in the selection process who disallow primordial, religious and ethnic sentiments to take preeminence over competence, outstanding excellence and value based impacts. Our standards are ethically professional".
The statement however added that five other personalities, who are not from Osun would also be honoured with awards at the programme.
