Osun SWAN honours Dotun Babayemi, as SDP adopts his candidacy for senate

The Osun  State chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria,  SWAN,  on Sunday honoured the  candidate for Osun West senatorial district on the platform of Action Democratic Party,  ADP,  Omooba Dotun Babayemi. 

Babayemi was  presented with a  'MERITORIOUS GOLD AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN GRASSROOTS SPORTS DEVELOPMENT ' in recognition of  his robust  support for the development of sports at the grassroot.

The event took place at  the Second edition of Omooba  Dotun Babayemi Youth Football Competition among football teams in Osun West senatorial district,  namely  Rovet FC, of Iwo and Hon. Sakor FC of Ede,   held at St. Anthony School, Oke-Bode, Iwo. 

The final stage of the competition  witnessed splendid display of football artistry by the two finalists.

 Rovet FC later displayed outstanding performance as it defeated  Hon.Sakor FC of Ede with  three goals, which were  scored by a celebrated  striker, Nurudeen Aremu, who went home with a cash prize, courtesy of Alh.Moshood Adeoti.


While the winner, Rovet FC went home with a cash prize of half a million naira,  the runners up, Hon.Sakor FC of Ede got  #300,000, as the  third place winner went home with #250,000.

In another development, the candidacy of Babayemi got a boost on Sunday as Social Democratic Party, SDP,  in Osun West senatorial district unanimously adopted him as its sole candidate in the election slated for February 16.

The Vice-Chairman of SDP in the state,  Mr. Folaranmi Hamzat in his address said that members of the SDP in Osun West Senatorial District decided to pitch  their tent with Babayemi  because of their strong conviction that he is the only candidate in the senatorial district capable of representing the people effectively. 

Hamzat and other speakers at the programme enjoined electorate in the senatorial district to vote for Babayemi as they  lauded his  philanthropic gesture while advising others to emulate him.

The event witnessed the presence of prominent personalities , including the national leader of the Action Democratic Party, Alh.Moshood Adeoti, among others.
