Lady Raped to Death As Gunmen Kill Driver’s Wife In Ondo

A yet-to-be identified middle aged lady has been raped to death by suspected yahoo boys in Akure.

NewsDay gathered that the body was dumped at a welder workshop at Ajipowo/Ogundipe in Akure after the heinous act.

The lady’s body was found around noon on Tuesday at the workshop, but a source said the lady might have been killed for money ritual and dumped the body at the scene to disguise as if she was raped at the workshop.

It was learnt that when owner of the welder workshop arrived at his shop and met the lady’s lifeless body, he quickly alerted landlords and residents around the area.

Men of the police force have been informed for necessary action and investigation.

Similarly, a house wife was killed by unknown hoodlums at Kajola area, off Oda Road in Akure.

The woman is a wife to a top officer of the NURTW in the state capital.

Lawal Approves 28 Games For Osun Sports' Festival

Osun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Yemi Lawal has approved 28 different sports for the upcoming sports fiesta that will cut across the nooks and crannies of the state. This is contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Sports' Council, Mrs Funmilayo Moradeyo on Wednesday. The approved sports are; football, volleyball, basketball, handball; hockey, cricket, table tennis, chess, ayo olopon, draft, scrabble, boxing; Taekwondo and kick- boxing. Others are; Para- powerlifting, konfu, karate, judo, wrestling, swimming, athletics, badminton, squash, cycling tennis and weightlifting. The commissioner in a meeting with the Sports Council staff, coaches and local government sports coordinators, observed that "it is high time we started to develop sports from the grassroot, put the age limit of the athlete that  can feature in the sports fiesta to be 15- 29.
