No fewer than 150 houses were wrecked by an heavy windstorm at Erin-Oke, Oriade Local Government area of Osun State.
It was gathered that the windstorm affected churches, mosques, schools and residential facilities.
Chairman, Board of Trustees, Erin-Oke Development Association, Oriade Local Government Area in Osun State, Dr. Salaudeen Famakinwa speaking during on-the spot assessment visit urged both the Federal and State Government to come to the aid of residents of Erin-Oke.
The on-the spot assessment visit was made by both representatives of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA) to assess the level of damage caused by devastating windstorm.
Famakinwa lamented that so many houses were destroyed because of the heavy thunder windstorm which started in the evening of that faithful day like a normal rain, but suddenly turned into something else, pulling off roofing sheets and pulling down fences of buildings in the area.
The community leader recalled that they never experienced a disaster of this magnitude in the area affecting residential facilities, Schools, Mosques as well as Churches.
He therefore called for the assistance of both Federal and State Government to come to their aid to cushion the effects of the monumental damage.
Also, the APC Women Leader, Alhaja Kudirat Fakokunde also appealed to Federal Government to assist her kindred, noting that the State Government cannot do it all alone.
Mrs Fakokunde further reiterated that the heavy downpour, which occurred about two weeks ago with the attendant boisterous windstorm has rendered so many individuals homeless, including widows, widowers and aged people who cannot afford the cost of renovation.
She therefore harped on the need to give quick relief to the unfortunate victims.
