NBA Chairman Asks Buhari For Certified Amalgamated Treaty, Confab Reports

Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ilesa Branch, Barrister Kanmi Ajibola has requested for the certified copies of 1914 amalgamated treaty and 2014 confab report from President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ajibola, a human right lawyer, in a letter dated September 22, 2021 and made available to newsmen said he looked forward to receiving the said vital documents within seven days.

In the said letter titled “Re: Request for information in respect of some government’s activities in Nigeria”, the lawyer stated that by the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2011, every interested citizen of Nigeria has the right to make a request from the president, for any information about the activities of the government in the knowledge or custody of his office.

"In addition, I am also requesting information on the following on why the federal government will not convey a National Conference where Nigerians will be given free and fair opportunity to discuss issues relating to the unity and harmony of one indivisible and indissoluble sovereign country.

“And the Nigerian people will still continue to live in unity and harmony as one indivisible and indissoluble sovereign country, then, on what terms and conditions particularly where the Igbo Nation will not be calculated out of the Nigerian presidency as an outcast?” Bar. Ajibola queries.

The NBA boss further explained that if by the expiration of seven days, there was no reply to his requests, he will be heading to court while noting that by the placement of the constitutional duty, every citizen of the has the right make positive and useful contribution to the advancement, progress and well-being of the community where he resides.
