2021 White Cane Day: Osun Hosts Oyo In Blinds’ Novelty Match


A novelty match between the Nigeria Association of the Blind, Osun State Chapter and their colleagues from Oyo State will hold tomorrow Wednesday, October 13, 2021.

A statement by the association's Secretary Adedeji Sunday and the Chairman, Ogunniran Joseph indicates that venue of the novelty football match, scheduled to kick off at 4pm is the Osogbo Township Stadium, Osogbo.

According to the statement made available to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Osun State Chapter, the novelty match is organized to mark the 2021 White Cane Day Celebration.

It urged all SWAN members to grace the event as a means of identifying and associating with people with disabilities to make them feel the sense of belongings.

Lawal Approves 28 Games For Osun Sports' Festival

Osun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Yemi Lawal has approved 28 different sports for the upcoming sports fiesta that will cut across the nooks and crannies of the state. This is contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Sports' Council, Mrs Funmilayo Moradeyo on Wednesday. The approved sports are; football, volleyball, basketball, handball; hockey, cricket, table tennis, chess, ayo olopon, draft, scrabble, boxing; Taekwondo and kick- boxing. Others are; Para- powerlifting, konfu, karate, judo, wrestling, swimming, athletics, badminton, squash, cycling tennis and weightlifting. The commissioner in a meeting with the Sports Council staff, coaches and local government sports coordinators, observed that "it is high time we started to develop sports from the grassroot, put the age limit of the athlete that  can feature in the sports fiesta to be 15- 29. OAU Reunion: Accounting Dept. 2001 Set Embarks On Massive Renovation, Visits Ooni (Photos)

As part of the reunion programme of the 2001 set of Management & Accounting Department of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, the association has renovated several classrooms and other facilities in the Faculty of Administration.
