You're A Dogged Patriot- Osun Dep. Governor Hails Petinrin On His Birthday


Osun State Deputy Governor, Benedict Alabi, has eulogized the sterling contributions of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marchal Oluseyi Petinrin(Rtd) to the nation's territorial integrity and internal security,  as he celebrates his birthday on Thursday.

Alabi, in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Olaniyi Ajibola, described Petinrin as a gallant officer with high level of  discipline and patriotic disposition.

He stressed that Petinrin's career in the military was impactful and eventful, adding that coming generations of military officers would be proud of his indelible record.

According to him, Nigeria and indeed Africa need a dogged military officer like Petinrin to strengthen it's sovereignty.

"I celebrate an illustrious son of Osun and courageous patriot of strong will on his special day.

"You have made us proud as a brilliant and committed military officer with  your selfless and meritorious service to your father land.

"Your immense contribution to your immediate community is also inspirational and encouraging; I wish you  more fulfilling years ahead in good health  as you celebrate your birthday today.

"Happy birthday our  Chief Marchal'', the statement read.

Lawal Approves 28 Games For Osun Sports' Festival

Osun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Yemi Lawal has approved 28 different sports for the upcoming sports fiesta that will cut across the nooks and crannies of the state. This is contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Sports' Council, Mrs Funmilayo Moradeyo on Wednesday. The approved sports are; football, volleyball, basketball, handball; hockey, cricket, table tennis, chess, ayo olopon, draft, scrabble, boxing; Taekwondo and kick- boxing. Others are; Para- powerlifting, konfu, karate, judo, wrestling, swimming, athletics, badminton, squash, cycling tennis and weightlifting. The commissioner in a meeting with the Sports Council staff, coaches and local government sports coordinators, observed that "it is high time we started to develop sports from the grassroot, put the age limit of the athlete that  can feature in the sports fiesta to be 15- 29. OAU Reunion: Accounting Dept. 2001 Set Embarks On Massive Renovation, Visits Ooni (Photos)

As part of the reunion programme of the 2001 set of Management & Accounting Department of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, the association has renovated several classrooms and other facilities in the Faculty of Administration. The association, before commissioning of the renovated facilities on Saturday, paid royal homage to the palace of Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
